Museum of Flight, Boeing Field, Seattle USA

The Museum of Flight in Seattle is really a tribute to Boeing with many of the aircraft in the museum being Boeings. Or connected to Boeing in some way. Not only is it an aircraft museum but also a space museum. It is one of the best aviation museums I have seen or been to. What I really love about American aviation museums is that the architects use natural lighting in their buildings. Great for photographing the aircraft! The WW1 and WW2 collections are amazing with some rare aircraft on exhibition. Almost every aircraft or space craft has it's own story attached to it. The museum is extensive and one needs the better part of a day to really do the museum justice. There is also the original Boeing manufacturing building called the Red Barn. Inside, one can discover just how Boeing built their first aircraft. Further down the road are some interesting aircraft in another part of the museum including the very first Boeing 747 and a Concorde. In the main building is an amazing collection of model aircraft built by one man, Dr. Logan Holtgrewe who over 7 years built up a collection of 400 WW2 aircraft in 1/72 scale and 4 years to build 153 WW1 aircraft, many of them hand built from scratch. Amazing collection.

One of the must see museums when you visit Seattle. I'd like to thank Ted Huetter who is the Public Relations Manager for his help and time during my two visits (2008 and 2011) .
